What Is Your Skin Eating?
As time progresses and the release of new products increases, how do you determine which product is the best for you? This is a question that I know just about every woman and man struggles with (if they have a regular skin regimen). But how do you go about answering this loaded question when in reality there is no right or wrong answer?
The Regimen
Most daily skin regimens happen in the morning and then again at night before bed and beauty sleep. It usually consists of scrubbing your face with some type of cleanser, then a toner, then a facial lotion, and possibly even a layer of facial oil/serum (as per the new trends), and then a layer or more of makeup. In retrospect, while you are doing it, it doesn’t seem like a lot, but it is! That’s a lot of stuff for your skin to be absorbing throughout the day.
Is the number of products that you apply to your face helping or hurting your skin? I used to think that all of the celebrities that I would see every day scrolling through Instagram had “the perfect skin”, then I was sorely disappointed to find out that filters can easily wash away those blemishes. As the fads continue, oily face is now in. But so many of you have skin that doesn’t look good with a gleam or laid at the beach all day look.
Break It Down
It is important to identify the type of skin type that you have and then apply that knowledge but keep in mind that everyone needs HYDRATION. Seriously, it is the number one thing that you need to keep away those wrinkles and prevent any future wrinkles from appearing. As Haylie Bieber said, “go to bed looking like a glazed donut.”
- Wash your face with a healthy face wash. Look out for those additives; I use La Roche Posay. One bottle of this stuff goes a long way! I am in month 3 of using it and I’d say only 1/3 of the bottle is gone. One pump with a damp face will wash your day away and leave a clean and refreshed face. It is for normal to oily skin and doesn’t make your face feel dry after washing. - Next, you need a moisturizer or for me, a night face-serum/oil. Find something that is natural, oils and scents like Lavender and castor oil. They are both light enough to absorb while you sleep and keep your skin feeling fresh. The lavender is calming and soothing to help you fall asleep. - Keep it simple. It’s better, trust me. You can alternate with a face scrub for the more complicated skin types, but it is all going to be absorbed into your pores and remember this stuff is made in factories.
Take Charge of Your Skin
